A clear account of your data.
This policy explains how Maharo handles information when you use the Maharo website, desktop application, Android application, courses, live sessions, downloads, certificates, and support services. “Maharo” in this policy means the operator of the Maharo learning platform.
Information we handle
We collect information you provide and information needed to operate the service, including:
- Account information: name, phone number, password hash, language, preferences, verification status, and any Telegram account connection used for verification.
- Learning activity: enrollments, lesson progress, watch position, notes, bookmarks, quiz and assignment activity, live-session attendance, and certificates.
- Content and communications: files you upload, discussion posts, announcements, and support-ticket messages and attachments.
- Device and security data: registered device identifiers, app and operating-system versions, IP address, security events, session records, and diagnostic logs.
- Transaction records: payment-request or enrollment references needed to confirm access. Maharo does not require this website to store full payment-card details.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, deliver courses and live sessions, synchronize progress, provide offline access, issue and verify certificates, respond to support requests, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain the service, and meet legal obligations. We also use limited operational data to diagnose failures and improve reliability.
Retention and your choices
We retain information for as long as an account is active and as needed to provide the service, preserve learning and certificate records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal requirements. Retention periods differ by record type. You can update many profile and privacy preferences in the application and request access, correction, or deletion through Maharo Support. Some records may need to be retained where the law or platform integrity requires it.
Security and international processing
We use HTTPS, access controls, password hashing, device and session controls, signed download links, and monitoring intended to protect information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed where Maharo or its service providers operate, subject to appropriate protections and applicable law.
Maharo is not directed to children below the minimum age permitted to create an online account in their country. A parent, guardian, school, or organization should contact Maharo Support if they believe a child’s data was provided without appropriate authorization.
Website storage and changes
The public website may use local browser storage for choices such as theme and uses essential technical data needed for security and delivery. We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date at the top will change when a revised policy is published.
Questions or requests
Use Maharo Support inside the desktop or Android application for privacy questions and account requests. If you cannot access your account, use the download sign-in flow or the public website to regain access before opening a support ticket.
