Your agreement with Maharo.
These Terms govern use of the Maharo website, desktop application, Android application, learning content, live sessions, downloads, certificates, and support services. By creating an account or using Maharo, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you use Maharo for an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to do so.
Accounts and verification
You must provide accurate information, keep your password and verification methods secure, and promptly tell Maharo Support about unauthorized access. Accounts and protected downloads are personal unless Maharo or the relevant organization expressly permits otherwise. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and registered devices.
Courses, access, and certificates
Course availability, enrollment conditions, schedules, completion rules, and access duration may be set by Maharo, an instructor, or an organization. Offline content remains subject to account, device, enrollment, and license checks. A certificate confirms the platform record shown by the public verifier at the time of the check; it does not create a professional license, academic degree, or government accreditation unless that is stated separately by the issuing organization.
Where a purchase or payment request is arranged outside Maharo, the instructor, organization, or payment provider may apply additional commercial terms. Access is granted only after the platform receives the required confirmation.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- share accounts, verification codes, protected downloads, or device access in an unauthorized way;
- copy, record, redistribute, bypass protections on, or commercially exploit course material without permission;
- interfere with the service, probe for vulnerabilities without written authorization, introduce malicious code, or attempt unauthorized access;
- harass others, impersonate a person or organization, or upload unlawful or harmful material;
- use automated tools in a way that disrupts Maharo or extracts protected content or personal data.
Content and intellectual property
Maharo and its licensors retain rights in the platform, branding, software, and platform-provided material. Instructors and organizations retain the rights they hold in their course material. Subject to these Terms, Maharo gives you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service and access content for its intended learning purpose.
You retain rights in content you submit. You give Maharo the limited permission needed to host, process, display, transmit, back up, and moderate that content to operate and protect the service. You must have the rights and permissions necessary for anything you upload.
Updates, availability, and responsibility
Maharo may update applications, security requirements, features, or supported versions. Some updates may be required to continue safely. We work to keep the service available and to preserve progress, but maintenance, connectivity, third-party services, or events outside reasonable control can interrupt access. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without guarantees that it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Learning content is for educational purposes. Users should not rely on Maharo content as a substitute for qualified medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Suspension, termination, and changes
Maharo may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, content, infrastructure, or legal compliance, including for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms. You may stop using Maharo at any time and can ask Maharo Support about account closure. Provisions that by their nature should continue—such as content rights, security, records, and responsibility—remain applicable after access ends.
We may revise these Terms when the platform or legal requirements change. Material changes will be published with a new effective date and, where appropriate, communicated in the applications.
Questions
Use Maharo Support in the desktop or Android application for questions about these Terms, account access, course access, or enforcement decisions.
